Ways to Reduce the Risk of a Tire Blowout
If your car blows out a tire, then you'll suddenly find yourself in a scary situation and may end up getting in an accident. Fortunately, there are certain measures you can take to reduce the risk of a tire blowout. At Cypress Tire & Car Care Center, our staff can inspect your tires to see if they're at increased risk of blowing out. If you need new tires, we can help you with navigating our inventory to find just the right set for your needs and budget. And if you need tire repair or maintenance, we can expertly complete any needed tasks.
Tips for Preventing a Tire Blowout
One simple way to reduce the chances of a blowout is to make sure you're driving with proper tire pressure. Tire pressure usually is supposed to be at a point between 30 and 35 psi. You'll want to check the pressure specification for your tires and then inflate them as needed. And if your TPMS (tire-pressure monitoring system) light flashes on, then you'll want to check your tire pressure as soon as safely possible.
You can also help prevent a blowout by staying current with tire rotation. Tires typically need to be rotated somewhere between 6,000 and 8,000 miles. When tires don't get rotated as necessary, their tread may wear down in an uneven manner, which can make the tires more prone to blowing out.
And if your tires are worn-out, then you should replace them to reduce the risk of a blowout, and to ensure that you're driving with tires that can safely grip the road. As your tires age, you'll want to pay closer attention to their tread. When tire tread reaches 4/32", it's time to start considering your next set of tires. And if your tread gets down to 2/32", then getting new tires should be a top priority. Low tire tread can cause your tires to heat up faster, which increases the risk of a blowout occurring.
